Developed by Slightly Mad Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment in May 2015, ‘Project CARS’ is a widely popular simulation video game that focuses on motorsport racing. The mentioned game supports the platforms of Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Initially, three more platforms were going to be included in the game support; namely, Wii U, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; but these versions were cancelled later on.  The game’s critical reception was generally positive. Metacritic gave the game’s PC version an approval rating of 83%.  IGN.com rated the game as 8.9/10 whereas GameSpot gave the game a rating of 8 out of a possible 10. A sequel to Project CARS is expected to be released in late 2017. This game totally abandons the reward system so that the player do not merely run after some points but play the game for the sake of playing it.

There are 74 cars for the players to drive during the game. Most of these are licensed cars. These cars, however, cannot be collected due to the absence of the game’s reward system. A wide array of locations is featured in the game which totals up to 30. The locations host more than 110 different courses for the players to cruise on. 23 of these racing tracks are inspired from real courses. The additional editions to the original game added a number of cars to the game. These included Ford GT40 Mk IV, BMW M1 Procar, McLaren F1, Sauber C9, Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 Class Coupe’ DTM, Pagani Huayra BC, Pagani Zonda Clinque Roadster and many others. A number of Downloadable Content was released after the game’s initial release. The accurate physics of the game coupled with the ease of getting accustomed to the controls, makes this game very user friendly. The braking assistance and the Stability control also facilitate those who are new to this game. There is also a difficulty meter which allows the players to customize just how much of a challenging game they want to play. The amount of laps too can be customized for every single session along with the difficulty of the game. The tuning of the car can also be done to enhance the car’s performance.

Four modes are available for the game play. The Solo Race and the Online mode provides one with the opportunity to design a custom game session. The customizable settings for these modes are the cars, tracks, motorsport restrictions, realism settings and the weather conditions. The Career mode lets one be a driver of either gender. The main focus is on accomplishing as many goals and challenges as possible. The career goals available for one to grab are ‘Zero to Hero’, ‘Triple Crown’, and ‘Defending Champ’.  When the person’s goal is not in danger, Diversions are encouraged. Three types of tiers are available for this mode. The low-tier consists mainly of karting events. The middle level tier includes GT events and open-wheel races. The top-tier consists of prototype racing. The fourth mode which is featured is the Driver Network. This mode gives one the chance to compete against other players through time trial challenges. Every player uses the same car, and track to make the best possible time on the clock. The player with the best time is deemed the winner. During the game, the players get the freedom to practice for as long as they want.

The weather conditions lack monotony and this brings excitement and the element of realness to the game. But it may also prove to be a menace in a game session.
